Windsor Castle has functioned as a royal residence continuously since William the Conqueror began building on the site in the 1070s, making it both the oldest and the largest occupied castle anywhere in the world, a record that isn’t really about age so much as the fact that nobody has ever stopped using it for its original purpose. Current visiting information is published directly by the Royal Collection Trust. Eton College, a short walk across the river, has been educating pupils in the same institution since Henry VI founded it in 1440, another address that has simply never changed function across nearly six centuries. Windsor Great Park’s Long Walk, a near-three-mile avenue laid out in the 1680s specifically to give an approach worthy of the castle, still does exactly that job today. Windsor also sits barely fifteen minutes from Heathrow, the shortest run of any location we cover, which means the town spends its days doing something genuinely unusual: hosting a working head of state’s residence and a steady flow of connecting air travellers within the same short stretch of the M4. A chauffeur service Windsor relies on works across both realities at once.
From the Mercedes S-Class for everyday journeys to the Rolls-Royce Phantom for special occasions. Full pricing for every vehicle is below.
Fifteen minutes to Heathrow genuinely changes what’s realistic from Windsor: a later departure than you’d normally risk, or a same-day return that would be unworkable almost anywhere else we cover. That proximity, alongside an active royal residence and a world-famous school, makes Windsor bookings genuinely unlike anywhere else on our list.
Windsor genuinely holds one of the highest concentrations of continuously functioning historic institutions anywhere in Britain, all within walking distance of each other. Our Chauffeur Service Windsor treat each address individually, particularly given how frequently road access changes around state and royal events, much as we do further along the Thames in Kingston upon Thames.
Castle Hill
The oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, a working royal residence since the 1070s.
Eton High Street
One of the world's most famous schools, founded by Henry VI in 1440 and still teaching today.
The Crown Estate
Nearly 5,000 acres of royal parkland, including the nearly three-mile Long Walk to the Castle.
Maidenhead Road
A Thames-side racecourse notable for its unusual figure-of-eight track layout.
Thames Street
A riverside hotel built around a house genuinely designed by the architect himself.
High Street
A historic coaching inn directly opposite the Castle's main gate.
Notice how far ahead Heathrow sits on this list. No other location our Chauffeur Service Windsor covers gets there faster than Windsor does, though Richmond comes reasonably close.

Windsor Castle survived a serious fire in 1992 that gutted several state rooms, and rather than treat the damage as a natural stopping point, restoration work spent the following five years putting the castle back into exactly the kind of continuous use it had always had. The Long Walk, laid out under Charles II in the 1680s, was designed as a deliberately theatrical approach to the castle, elms originally lining nearly three straight miles from the town toward the gates, a piece of landscape architecture built purely to make an arrival feel like one.
Royal Windsor Racecourse sits on a genuine Thames floodplain and floods with enough regularity that meetings are sometimes cancelled at short notice, an operational reality the venue has simply built into how it plans its calendar rather than something it treats as exceptional.
Every journey is quoted at a fixed price before you travel, with no surge pricing and no meter running while you wait.

Windsor Castle is a genuinely working royal residence, and state visits, changing of the guard, and periodic royal ceremonies all bring road closures and pedestrian restrictions around the town centre with little notice. We check the current schedule before confirming a pickup point near the Castle, rather than assuming yesterday’s route will still be open.
Eton College sits just across the river in a separate town with its own access rules, particularly during term-time events and exam periods when visitor parking becomes genuinely limited. We know the difference between an Eton drop-off and a Windsor one, and plan accordingly, an approach that also suits clients on a standing chauffeur account.
Typically 15 to 25 minutes under normal traffic, genuinely the fastest airport journey of any location we cover, including a direct run to Terminal 5.
Local journeys start from around £140. The price is fixed before you travel.

Yes, Legoland sits within our regular Windsor coverage, typically around ten minutes from the town centre.
